Kamada Ekadashi Vrat Katha

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna told the story of Kamada Ekadashi to King Yudhishthira. The story involves an apsara named Lalita and a Gandharva named Lalit who served in the court of King Pundarika of Bhagipur.

One day, while Lalit was singing in the King’s court, he was distracted by thoughts of his beloved Lalita, who was absent. This affected his performance, and a serpent reported his distraction to the King.

The King got angry, and Pundarika cursed Lalit to become an ugly demon. Lalit transformed into a monster, which deeply saddened Lalita. She followed him as he was going into the forests in his new form.

Eventually, Lalita found Sage Shringi at Vindhyachal Mountain and told him her plight. The sage advised her to observe the Kamada Ekadashi fast in the month of Chaitra to lift the curse.

Lalita followed his advice and performed the fast with devotion and praying for her husband’s release. Her dedication paid off, and Lalit was restored to his original form.

Since then, devotees have observed fast on this and recited the Kamada Ekadashi vrat katha, believing it fulfils their wishes and helps them overcome difficulties.
