After this, Lord Shiva favoured to handle the velocity and weight of the Ganga.

After receiving grace from Bholenath, Ganga descended to earth from the lotus of Lord Brahma through the matted hair of Lord Shiva. The Ganga got its name Bhagirathi from the name of Bhagiratha. Bhagiratha felt very lucky to see the Ganga flowing from the peak of Bholenath through the Himalayas towards the plains. He was blessed by Brahma to receive his merit.
