Som Pradosh Vrat Katha

There is a vrat katha behind this auspicious day. Once, a poor widow of a Brahmin lived with her son in a city. She went to beg on the streets with her child. One day, she saw an infant on the streets. He was the prince Dharmagupta of the Vidharva Kingdom, who was left alone by the enemies of the king’s palace. The child was severely wounded, and the Brahmini took him home. The prince lived with her, along with her son.

On one fine day, a princess named Anshumati of the Gandharva kingdom fell in love with the prince. After that, she came to meet him along with her parents. Their parents decided to get them married after Anshumati’s parents saw a dream. They saw Shiva in their dreams, who was ordering them for Anshumati and Dharmagupta’s marriage.
