The mythology says the King of Mithila, King Janak, was cultivating the field, and he found a baby girl inside a container. He took that girl with him, named her Janki, and raised her as his daughter. The birth of Sita became a special event in history. 

When Devi Sita grew up, King Janak organised a swayamvar for her, and the condition was that whichever King could break the bow of Lord Shiva would be married to Goddess Sita. Lord Rama broke the Bow of Lord Shiva and became the perfect man to marry Goddess Sita. 

2. Sita Navami Significance 

Sita Navami holds a very special place in the Hindu religion. Goddess Sita is considered the roop of Goddess Laxmi. Sita was the daughter of King Janak and was called Janki. Sita Devi was married to Lord Ram.

  • Offer fresh flowers and decorate the Worship place. 
  • Offer 16 sringaar to Sita Mata.
  • Offer Pooja Samagri and start performing Aarti by lighting the ghee lamp.
  • After the pooja, offer fruits, sweets and satvik food to the Gods. 
  • In the end, distribute the prasad and pray to God for a happy and peaceful life. 

2. Rituals

  • Worship the idols of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman.
  • Decorate the place of worship with fresh flowers and garlands.
  • Offer fruits, barley and rice to the Gods during the Pooja. 
  • Prepare Satvik food for the Gods and offer it to them during the pooja. 
  • Break the fast the following day with a sip of water.

  • Do the pooja with complete Vidhi- Vidhan. 
  • Recite Goddess Sita Vrat katha. 
  • Take some sindoor from Lord Hanuman’s idol and offer it to Mata Sita to manifest your desires. 
  • Offer yellow colour cloth to Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. 
  • Put an Orange flag specifically for the Lord Ram in your house to remove negativity.
