Who is Jagaddhatri Devi?

Jagaddhatri Devi is a Hindu Goddess. She is the form of Durga. The word Jagaddhatri is derived from the two Sanskrit words, ‘Jagat’, the meaning of which is ‘World’ and ‘Dhatri’, which means ‘the maintainer’.

Jagaddhatri Puja has an interesting mythological story behind it. After the Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura, she became proud of her powers. To teach her humility, Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva created a new goddess named Jagaddhatri, which means “the one who holds the world.”

Jagaddhatri Devi is a beautiful goddess with three eyes and four arms. She rides a lion and conquers an elephant demon called Karindrasura. The elephant symbolizes pride, while the lion represents divine strength. Jagaddhatri’s victory over the elephant demon shows that divine wisdom can overcome arrogance.
