Ganesh Visarjan is one of the festivities of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The Visarjan day marks the end of Lord Ganesh’s visit and his return to Kailasha. 

The day comes 10 days after the Chaturthi festival and is also known as the Anant Chaturdashi. On this day, people immerse the Ganesh Idol they brought home on Chaturthi and seek blessings.

Ganesh Visarjan 2025: Rituals To Follow

This day might seem simple to some, with just performing the simple Visarjan ritual. However, this is not true. There are specific rules that one must follow to perform Visarjan.

1. Ganesh Visarjan Puja  

The Visarjan day is considered a sad day as the beloved Lord is seen leaving one’s home. However, as a ritual, it is to be done. 

• Firstly, take a banana leaf and clean it with Ganga jal. Draw a swastika on the leaf using vermillion and then cover it with a yellow or red cloth. 
• Once done, spread flowers along with betel leaves and betel nut. 
• Now, carefully place Ganesh’s idol over the cloth-covered leaf. 
• Offerings like modak, fruits, and flowers are to be offered to Lord Ganesh. 
• Now perform the aarti as every day, but remember to seek Bappa’s blessings and also ask for forgiveness for any unintentional mistake. 

2. Ganesh Visarjan Vidhi 

• Once the Puja is done, you can check for the auspicious Visarjan time. Then you can immerse Lord Ganesh’s idol in a nearby water body, like a river or sea.
• You can also do so in your home by immersing the idol in a big container filled with water.
