Let us first start by understanding Tarabalam meaning. The Sanskrit word Tarabalam is made up of two words, 'Tara', which means star and 'Bala', which means strength. That adds up to define it as the strength given by stars.
The more accurate description of the Tarabalam table defines it as the energy that the Muhurat Nakshatra provides to your Janma Nakshatra. The energy can either be good or bad. It is essentially used to compare the compatibility of the Muhurat Nakshatra to the Janma Nakshatra.

Since the remainder comes between 1-9, there are nine types of Tarabalams. They can be classified into very good, good, bad and very bad Taras. They are:
This type is for when the remainder is 1. It is related to the birth of Nakshatra and usually indicates danger to the individual. Janma Tara combination is formed when two Nakshatras of the same Paryaya are considered. Overall, it is considered to be a bad Tarabalam. But spiritual initiation can be undertaken under such Muhurats.
For remainder 2, this type is identified. It is related to wealth and is usually considered a perfect combination. At least one of the two considered Nakshatras is ruled by Venus in this case. This type is, for the remainder 3, a forebear of accidents and damages. This Tarabalam is not the first choice to start any work. Saturn often rules the Nakshatras forming this combination. They hence harm whatever is being undertaken during this time.
Remainder 4 corresponds to this type of Tarabalam. 'Kshema' stands for comfort. This Tarabalam is often associated with prosperity and comfort. That is why this corresponds to a good Muhurat to start professional work, as that will have a high chance of success.
When the remainder is 5, this Tarabalam type arises. It is generally an indicator of a very bad Muhurat and should be avoided at all costs. ‘Pratyak’ stands for obstacles, and the work done in this Muhurat with this Tarabalam may lead to mental unrest.
This tarabalam is observed when the remainder comes out to be 6. It is a very good Tarabalam to have, as it is associated with achieving one's goals. This is suitable for undertaking all types of auspicious works.
This type is for the remainder of 7. It is considered to be a very bad Tarabalam. The term Naidhana stands for 'destruction'. There is no rectification for this; hence, any Muhurat with this tarabalam should be strictly avoided.
