Namkaran Muhurat 2022

After a baby's birth, the universe's whole cosmic balance is considered for preparing his birth chart, elements like birth nakshatra, yoga, Rashi, and Lagna are deemed to create the most promising result for the newborn. One such ritual is Baby Namkaran sanskar.

This page will provide a vivid description and all the essential features of Namkaran Sanskar. Knowing the Shubh muhurat for Namkaran, one of the most significant rites to perform after childbirth, is apparent. Nevertheless, one might wonder why we must do Namkaran and invest all of our effort to locate Namkaran muhurats in 2022.

What is Namkaran sanskar?

The official naming ritual known as "Namakarana" in the Vedic culture is carried out to choose a newborn's name using conventional procedures and following astrological naming conventions. In Vedic, "nam" means "name," and "Karan" means "create." Namkaran is known as one of the most important and auspicious rituals. It is believed that a soul has to wait for 84 lakh yoni to retake a human form."

The family always gathers to celebrate the birth of a child in this typically joyful namkaran vidhi after the stresses of labour and delivery have subsided. In certain traditions, Namkaran is also known as "Palanarohan," which alludes to placing a kid in a cradle, where palana = cradle; arohan = aboard.

When is Namkaran Sanskar done?

The Namkaran ritual is customarily performed following the "Jatakarma" samskara, a ceremony of transition honouring the baby's birth. These days, with an increasing number of deliveries occurring in hospitals, this rite is done with the Namkaran ceremony within a few weeks of the baby's birth.

The namakarana pooja should technically take place 11 days after the baby is born, right before the "Sutika" or "Shuddhikaran" period, during which the mother and child are confined to rigorous postnatal care. The Shudhikaran or Sutika phase ought to come first. However, the Namkaran Sanskar views this time as unholy. You must go through these 10 days before organising a naming ceremony for your child in 2022.

On the other hand, the 11th day is not set in stone and can be chosen by the parents with the help of a priest or an astrologer. Or it can be postponed even until the child turns one. Hence, One should prefer giving two names to the infant. It is said that giving the child two names- a formal name and a nickname helps in holding the individuality of two words. As a result, there is more potential and positive energy.

The step-by-step process of Namkaran sanskar

  • In the presence of the priest, the parents of the newborn begin the ceremony with prana, meditation and mantra recitation. All these rituals happen in the Shubh Muhurat.
  • The rite can be carried out by the grandpa or brother in the father's unavailability.
  • With invocation to the Deity, Agni, the deity of fire, the cosmos, and the spirits of the forefathers, the priest conducts the ceremony.
  • There is silver “thali” in this ceremony, and rice is spread all over it. While invoking God’s name, the father draws the chosen name on the rice with a gold stick.
  • Then the father says the prayer and speaks the title four times into the child’s right ear. Later, everyone present starts repeating a few words after the priest.
  • The rite concludes with a baby name function feast shared with friends and relatives accompanied by the elders' blessing and presents.
  • The household astrologer typically provides the child's zodiac sign and chatti pooja for the new born baby during this ritual.
