Rahu Puja is a Hindu ritual dedicated to appeasing Rahu, the north node of the moon, which is believed to be a malefic planet in Vedic astrology. According to Hindu mythology, Rahu is an asura, a demon who consumed the nectar of immortality (Amrit) and became immortal. However, Lord Vishnu cut off his head when he tried to cheat the gods and become immortal. The head of the demon, known as Rahu, became a planet in the solar system, and his body, known as Ketu, became another planet. Rahu is believed to cause obstacles, delays, and problems in people's lives, and performing Rahu Puja is believed to help get rid of these problems.

The word "puja" means worship or adoration, and Rahu Puja involves offering prayers, flowers, fruits, and other items to appease Rahu. The ritual is usually performed by those who are facing difficulties in their lives, such as financial problems, health issues, relationship problems, or obstacles in their career or education. Rahu Puja is also performed during the Rahu Kaal, which is a period of time each day when Rahu is believed to be most powerful and malefic.

The exact procedure for Rahu Puja can vary depending on the region, tradition, and individual preferences. However, the general steps involved in the ritual are as follows:

Selecting the auspicious date and time: Rahu Puja is typically performed on a Saturday, as Rahu is believed to be the ruler of this day of the week. The puja can be performed during the Rahu Kaal, which is a period of time each day when Rahu is believed to be the most powerful. The exact time for Rahu Kaal can vary depending on the location and time of the year, so it is important to consult a reliable astrologer to determine the most auspicious time for the ritual. Mentioned below are some important steps and actions that take place during the Rahu puja. These are as follows: 

• Preparing the puja items: The items needed for the Rahu Puja include a picture or idol of Rahu, flowers, fruits, incense sticks, camphor, ghee, coconut, black sesame seeds, and other offerings. These items should be arranged in a clean and sacred space, such as a puja room or temple.
• Observing fasting: It is recommended to observe a fast on the day of Rahu Puja, as it is believed to help purify the mind and body and enhance the effectiveness of the ritual. The fast can be either partial or complete, depending on one's ability and preferences.
• Invoking the deity: The puja begins by invoking the presence of Rahu through mantras and prayers. The mantra for Rahu is "Om Rahuve Namah", which should be chanted 108 times or as many times as possible. The puja can also begin with the recitation of the Ganesh mantra or any other mantra of one's choice.
• Offering prayers and offerings: Once Rahu's presence is invoked, the devotee offers prayers and offerings to appease Rahu. The offerings can include flowers, fruits, incense sticks, camphor, ghee, coconut, black sesame seeds, and other items. These offerings are believed to please Rahu and help mitigate the negative effects on the planet.
• Performing the Homa: Homa is a fire ritual that involves offering ghee, sesame seeds, and other items into the sacred fire while reciting mantras. This ritual is believed to purify the atmosphere and bring positive energy into the surroundings. The Homa is an optional step in the Rahu Puja, but it is considered highly beneficial.
• Concluding the Puja:The puja is concluded by seeking blessings from Rahu and seeking them to calm the negative and adverse effects in an individual's life.
