This is a 5020-meter lake in Uttarakhand with a unique mystery behind it. It belongs to the Shiva family. We say he created it using his Trishul. We can find it on the way to visit Goddess Nanda ( an incarnation of Parvati).<\/span>

Various explorers have seen human skeletons in this place, which has aroused curiosity in them. Now, it is a fantastic place for trekking. In winter, it is entirely covered with snow. Why do we call this ‘A Lake of Skeletons’?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

People call Roopkund Lake a mystery lake of Skeletons because several skulls and human bones are inside the jheel. The skeletons of Japanese soldiers were discovered around 1942, but this was not the case. Scientists say the skeletons are 1000 years old. We can see the skeletons as they are visible in the clear water.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Kind Jasdhaval and Rani Balampa<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

The other mystery of Roopkund Lake is about King Jasdhaval and his pregnant wife, Rani Balampa, who went on the Nanda Devi pilgrimage. There, his wife gave birth to a child. The king wanted to celebrate this, so he called many dancers, entertainers, and servants to the place. This angered Nanda Devi, as he was corrupting a divine place. She cursed the dancers in that place and unleashed a hailstorm in which the king died. <\/span>

Anthropologists have discovered other skeletons dating back to 840 A.D. in the place. People have found exquisite jewellery, leather shoes, knives, and spears.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Spiritual Importance of the Mystery Lake<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

According to a legend, Goddess Maa Durga defeated the demon Mahisasura in Bedni Bugyal, a part of Roopkund. After defeating them, she wanted to bath to clean the dirt. For this, Lord Shiva made a lake from his Trishul. He saw the reflection of the Goddess\u2019s body in the Kund and named it Roopkund. This made this place auspicious. The four Vedas were written near Bedni Bugyal.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Lord Ganesha and Goddess Parvati<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

Lord Ganesha was guarding his mother, Parvati, while she was taking a bath in the Kund. Devotees come here for the Nand Raj Jat Yatra every 12 years. They see a four-horned Ram who visits this place. People see him as a form of God. Many pilgrims visit the lake to offer worship to Nanda Devi.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
