Kojagori Laxmi Puja 2025, also known as Kojagori Lokkhi Puja in Bengali, is an auspicious day. The meaning of Kajori Laxmi Pooja is Koja, which is ‘who’, and gari, which is ‘awake’, forming ‘someone who doesn’t sleep on the night of the Kojagari festival’. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is believed that one who doesn\u2019t sleep on the night of the Kojagari festival is blessed with fortune in their lives. This festival holds significance because of the belief that the festival of Kajagori Laxmi brings prosperity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Knowing The Kojagara Vrat Katha<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

In ancient times, there was a moneylender. His mother, Lakshmi, who had two daughters, was very religious and a great believer in Goddess Lakshmi. Both the daughters fasted on the full moon. <\/span><\/p>\n

The eldest daughter of the moneylender fulfilled this vow and performed the complete rituals. <\/span>However, his younger daughter ignorantly left the fast incomplete. Goddess Lakshmi became angry with her for not completing the fast.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Goddess’s Anger<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The children of the moneylender’s younger daughter used to die.\u00a0<\/span>Whenever she gave birth to a child, her son died soon after. The moneylender’s younger daughter was distraught and confided in a sage about her troubles. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Rishi understood the entire matter and informed her about the mistake of<\/span>\u00a0leaving the full moon fast incomplete and not observing the complete ritual. He told her that if she observed the Purnima fast correctly, her child could survive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Advice Of The Sage<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

On the sage’s advice, she observed the Purnima vow following the rituals. She had a child but died a few days later. <\/span>This made her quite upset, but then she remembered her elder sister. She laid the boy on a small wooden bench and covered him with a cloth. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then she called her elder sister and motioned for her to sit on her. The elder sister was unaware that the child’s body was lying there. As soon as she sat down on the bench, her lehenga brushed against the baby, and the baby suddenly came alive, starting to cry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sisters’ Miracle<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Seeing this incident, the elder sister reprimanded her and said, “You wanted to stigmatise me. If I had sat down, it would have died. The younger sister politely said that it was already dead. It is by your penance and merit that it has come to life. You have the immense grace of Mata Lakshmi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After this incident, the moneylender proclaimed that the city should observe the full moon fast. Since then, this day has been celebrated as a festival, and Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on this day.<\/span><\/p>\n
