Among Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatara, Narasimha is recognized as the most robust avatar. Lord Vishnu assumed this avatar to defeat Hiranyakashipu, the demon king who had wreaked havoc in all three planes.
Vishnu has four arms and has blue-skin. The conch, the chakra or discus, the lotus flower, and the mace are always in his hands.
To make matters even more complicated, each Hindu god can take on multiple forms or avatars, each with its name. The word avatar means ‘descent.’ When a god reincarnates, their incarnations are the avatars.
