Amarnath Yatra is one of the four significant pilgrimages of India, and a group of devotees’ journey across the south Kashmir Himalayas to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji.
The Amarnath cave has exceptional importance related to Lord Shiva. Shiva recited the story of the formation of the universe and the mystery of immortality to Parvati, here in this cavern.
Puranas, however, narrate the tale of the sacred cavern, yet there are various present-day stories connected. One such story is that of Shepherd Buta Malik.
Amarnath sanctuary is in Kashmir, 145 km east of Srinagar. And the journey starts on the Panchami day of the month at Srinagar.
