he word “Pitru Paksha” is derived from the Sanskrit language, where “Pitru” means ancestors. The main reason for performing this ritual is to request God to forgive the sins or the past mistakes of the ancestors.
During Pitru Paksha, it is said that the ancestors visit Earth. That is why all the activities are done to bring calm to their souls and also get their blessings.

1.The Pitru Paksh rituals are distributed for 16 lunar days. A specific Shraadh ritual is performed on each day. 2.The eldest son of the family performs the Pitru pooja at home.
